Marty Barkan is recognized as a leading commercial real estate professional in the Los Angeles area where he is active as a broker and consultant. Marty joined CBRE as a First Vice President in March, 2012 and focuses on office leasing, investment property sales and consulting to major real estate investors, owner operators, and corporate users. Hands on experience as an investment sponsor, owner/operator, property manager and appraiser contribute tremendously to his work as a broker and consultant. Marty Barkan has personally closed lease and sales transactions, and undertaken advisory and valuation assignments worth well over $2 Billion in the aggregate.

Prior to joining CBRE, Marty Barkan served 10 years as Senior Vice President for First Property Realty Corporation in Beverly Hills, and prior to that Marty was a Senior Vice President for Grubb & Ellis where he garnered multiple awards including: Top Westside Office Broker and Circle of Excellence. Marty began his career with James Felt & Company in New York City and has also worked for New York based Douglas Elliman in their valuation division.

Marty benefits from a family legacy and broad based background in the business. His father Abram “Abe” Barkan began a 61 year real estate career in New York City in 1936 with James Felt & Company. Where he rose through the ranks to become Felt’s President, owner, and a distinguished leader in New York real estate. Marty, his brother and their late father have collectively logged over 115 years of experience in the business.

Mr. Barkan holds the highly regarded CRE designation from The Counselors of Real Estate, an international real estate consulting and advisory organization as well as the CCIM designation from the Certified Commercial Investment Institute. Marty Barkan is a second generation CRE and proud of The Barkan Family’s 50 year legacy with The Counselors.
Marty Barkan is an instructor on the UCLA Extension’s Business and Management faculty and has been a guest speaker at UCLA and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors sponsored events. He is a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Los Angeles Commercial Realty Association, and is active with numerous community service and charitable organizations.
