Jeffrey A. Beaver, Esq., CRE, has been elected as a new member of The American Law Institute (ALI), a leading independent organization in the United States producing scholarly work to clarify, modernize, and otherwise improve the law. Members of ALI include distinguished judges, practitioners, and academics.
ALI drafts, discusses, revises, and publishes Restatements of the Law, Model Codes, and Principles of Law that are enormously influential in the courts and legislatures, as well as in legal scholarship and education. By participating in the Institute’s work, its members have the opportunity to influence the development of the law in both existing and emerging areas, to work with other eminent lawyers, judges, and academics, to give back to a profession to which they are deeply dedicated, and to contribute to the public good.
About Jeffrey A. Beaver, Esq., CRE
Jeffrey A. Beaver, Esq., CRE, serves as Partner at Miller Nash Graham & Dunn, LLP. Beaver has extensive experience as a trial lawyer. He focuses his practice on condemnation, financial institutions and commercial litigation. Beaver has represented clients in a variety of industries, including transportation, timberlands, financial services and manufacturing. He has successfully tried numerous multimillion-dollar cases and has obtained favorable verdicts or settlements in some of our area’s largest eminent domain cases.
Beaver has been a leader in the legal community throughout his career. He currently serves on the United States Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel, the Washington State Bar Special Disciplinary Counsel and the Washington State Minority and Justice Commission. He also serves as a board member of Friends of the Children-Seattle, the Washington Leadership Institute and the University of Oregon School of Law Dean’s Advisory Council. He has been actively involved in the American Bar Association’s efforts to provide advocacy training and assistance to Sudanese lawyers representing victims of the Darfur conflict before the International Criminal Court. Early in his career, Jeffrey was a member of the Hirabayashi Coram Nobis team.
Beaver has been elected to the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation and has been recognized by the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. as both an Earl Warren Scholar and a recipient of the John Warren Davis Award. In addition, he has been selected for inclusion in Washington Super Lawyers since 2003.
Beaver earned his bachelor’s degree at Morehouse College before receiving his law degree from the University of Oregon School of Law. He served as Articles editor for the Oregon Law Review. He was a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Allen E. Broussard, California Supreme Court, 1984, and a Law Clerk to the Honorable Jerome Farris, U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, 1985-1986.
