DEVELOPMENT TOUR #1
Downtown, Boeing Museum and Pike Place Market

We begin our tour with a commentary by local CRE members on the University of Washington’s downtown holdings and the strategy options for their ground lease expirations. Next stop: The Museum of Flight. The museum is a large complex of buildings featuring an extensive collection of historic aircraft and memorabilia and includes the Red Barn, birthplace of the Boeing Company. The tour concludes at Pike Place Market. In operation for over 100 years, the market covers nine acres and has played a significant role in the revitalization of downtown Seattle. Today it is home to more than 500 residents and scores of vendors, restaurants and shops, offering everything from produce and fish to art and antiques.

SPOUSE/GUEST TOUR #1
Historic Theater Tour and Lunch at Chandler’s Crab House

The magnificent Paramount Theater is one of America’s last great Movie Palaces. Built during the Roaring 1920s, its grandeur has earned it a place on the National Register of Historic Places. It’s been completely restored, so you can experience its opulent interior as audiences did long ago on opening night – even the original Wurlitzer theater organ and Knabe Ampico player piano in a near-perfect acoustic environment. One of the Seattle Theatre Group’s historians will take you through a guided behind-the-scenes tour – from the other side of the footlights – including backstage, the dressing rooms, and below the orchestra pit. The traveling off-Broadway show Fiddler on the Roof will be arriving this same day, so there may be quite a lot to see!

Then experience lunch at Chandler’s Seafood and Crab House – Seattle’s premier waterfront restaurant. Chandler’s Cove Room offers a sweeping view of Lake Union, Gasworks Park and Queen Anne, and you’ll experience all the lake happenings -- including seaplanes taking off and landing, yachts and sailboats. The food is some of the best in the Pacific Northwest, and Chandler’s is consistently rated among Seattle’s Top Restaurants by the ZAGAT Survey. Wine Spectator magazine also awarded Chandler’s “Unique Distinction” honors in 2009.

6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

SPOUSE/GUEST TOUR #2
Glassblowing & Art Studio Tour Plus Lunch at the Space Needle

Glass is an art medium, and nowhere is this more apparent than at Seattle’s Glasshouse Studio and Foster White Studio. You’ll see live glass blowing – learning how the beautiful decorative glass objects are actually made. These studios, in operation nearly 40 years, offer the most interesting arrays of glass art – both decorative and functional – in the region. You’ll also visit the galleries, where dozens of artists’ works are on display.

For lunch it’s on to the famous Space Needle – the symbol of Seattle! Built in 1962 for the Seattle World’s Fair, it is the most recognizable structure in the Pacific Northwest. You’ll be lunching in the Seattle Room at the Skyline Level, where you’ll enjoy a taste of Washington-grown cuisine while enjoying views from 100 feet above the city, viewing Capitol Hill, downtown Seattle and Elliott Bay.

Transportation provided.

6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

FAREWELL COCKTAIL RECEPTION

A final gathering for enjoying the great company of fellow members, spouses and guests in the spectacular Fairmont Olympic Hotel. Conversation, cocktails and light hors d’oeuvres — then you’ll still have time for dinner at any of the excellent restaurants in Seattle — many within walking distance of the hotel.
