Opening
Keynote Address
Prof. Francis
Fukuyama - John Hopkins University
This session will provide a framework for
considering a broad set of questions arising from today's
environment. How should we think about terrorism, immigration,
multi-culturalism, globalization, and the evolution of culture
here and around the world? Prof. Fukuyama's remarks will spur
our thinking on these topics and provide new insights into
their interrelatioships. Fukuyama will discuss the role of
culture in current world events and the elements of culture
that affect the viability of society-- security, values, trust,
and the fundamentals of successful nation-states.
A renowned author, educator, and thought leader,
Fukuyama has written widely on the new world order and nation
building, his most recent book being America at the Crossroads.
Few thinkers have so strongly influenced the direction of
modern social and political philosophy. |

Other Cultures Have Adapted to American Life

This session will allow
participants to focus on the impact of multi-culturalism on
daily life in the U.S. Insights gained from Prof. Skerry's
