About The Counselors of Real Estate
Established in 1953, The Counselors of Real Estate is an international membership organization of 1,100 advisors who provide intelligent, unbiased, and trusted real estate advice for clients and employers.
Counseling
Counseling is not considered a specific real estate discipline with a defined body of knowledge, such as brokerage, management, or appraisal. Rather, it is considered a problem-solving process. Areas of expertise include, but are not limited to:
- economic and fiscal impact studies
- financing
- development
- site location, relocation, lease/purchase evaluation
- corporate real estate strategy
- acquisitions and dispositions
- investment analysis and strategy
- market research and demand/supply analysis
- land use/master planning
- pension fund consulting
- arbitration and mediation
- expert witness testimony and litigation support
- capital formation and syndication
- public/private partnerships
Membership
Members are admitted into the organization by invitation only and carry the designation Counselor of Real Estate (CRE). To be invited, advisors must be recognized by their peers for outstanding professional achievement, impeccable judgment, and commitment to integrity in their counseling careers.
Purpose
The purpose of The Counselors of Real Estate organization is to serve as an information resource and to provide its members with opportunities for professional development, knowledge sharing, and networking, all grounded in a culture of camaraderie.
