Navarro and Team Negotiate Lease for First Building in Chicago-Area Logistics Center
Stephen P. Navarro, CRE, executive vice president, CBRE, Greenville, S.C., recently represented Michelin North America, Inc., providing advisory services as tenant in negotiation, with Ridge Development/Transwestern as landlord. The completed transaction produced a long-term lease for an approximately 1.7 million-square-foot build-to-suit industrial facility, kicking off the first building in the new RidgePort Logistics Center located just south of Chicago in Wilmington, Ill. The Center is a 1,500-acre rail-served intermodal park with room for 14 million square feet of industrial, warehousing and logistics buildings. - Stephen Navarro, CRE
Frank and Schroer Honored at University of Cincinnati Real Estate Dinner
Two CREs, John J. Frank, Jr., chairman, Cincinnati and Dayton offices, Cassidy Turley Commercial Real Estate Services, Cincinnati; and Jeanne Schroer, president/CEO, Catalytic Development Funding Corporation of Northern Kentucky in Covington, recently were recognized for winning past "Distinguished Service" awards at the University of Cincinnati Real Estate Center & Program dinner. The award recognizes individuals who have best exemplified an entrepreneurial spirit and concern for their community. Frank originally was given the award in 2002, and Schroer received the award in 2011. Because this was the program’s 25th anniversary dinner, all past recipients were honored a second time. The dinner, attended by commercial and industrial real estate professionals in the region, was also attended by Cincinnati/Kentucky CRE Chapter members Raymond A. Chiles Appointed by Governor to Landslide Commission
Paul T. Chiles, CRE, president, Chiles & Company, Inc., Seattle, recently was appointed by Washington State Governor Jay Inslee as one of twelve members to serve on the [SR 530] Oso Landslide Commission, formed in response to the March 22 mudslide in the town of Oso that killed more than 40 persons. Members will examine the emergency disaster response to the mudslide and land-use planning in slide-prone areas. - Paul Chiles, CRE
Lowe and Davidson Complete Appraisal of LA Angel’s Parking Field
Timothy R. Lowe, CRE, principal, corporate president, Waronzof Associates, Inc., El Segundo, Calif., and Karen G. Davidson, CRE, president, Davidson & Associates, Yorba Linda, Calif., recently completed a valuation for the City of Anaheim of the development rights of a 135-acre parking field surrounding Angel Stadium of Anaheim, home to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim MLB franchise. The parking field is entitled to up to 5,200 residential units and up to six million square feet of office and retail development. The appraisal analysis included scenarios of fee simple and leasehold conveyance and value with and without the existing ballpark. Read more here about the appraisal and negotiations process.
Herman Moderates Panel at Appraisal Institute Annual Meeting
Jay M. Herman, Esq., CRE, senior partner, Herman Katz Cangemi & Clyne, LLP, Melville, N.Y. recently moderated and served as a panelist at the Appraisal Institute’s annual meeting in Austin, Texas, in a discussion entitled "Property Tax Assessments — Assessing, Challenging and Appraising." The discussion involved comparing and contrasting the New York and Texas real property tax and assessment systems up through and including the trial. - Jay Herman, CRE
