Corporate Real Estate
Corporate real estate is the functional practice, department, or
profession that is concerned with the planning, acquisition, management,
and administration of real property on behalf of a company. Generally,
corporate real estate professionals approach the real estate market
from the buy-side, or demand perspective, similar to corporate purchasing
or procurement. As such, they seek to contain costs, and may benefit
from economic environments that are described by most as "weak".
Corporate Real Estate professionals typically dedicate greater
emphasis and time on multi-site long-range planning ("portfolio
planning" or "strategic planning"). Corporate real
estate is almost exclusively focused on commercial properties types
(mostly office, with industrial and retail depending on the company).
The Corporate Real Estate Business Issues Forum is a peer-to-peer
opportunity to openly discuss how to work within the ever changing
corporate real estate structure. Typically, there are candid discussions
as to what works and what does not.
Past Forum attendees have discussed:
- the value of a corporate lease to landlords in providing the credit
backbone for project financing
-
the importance of corporate tenants’ need to do due diligence
homework on existing and prospective landlords
-
market value versus book value
-
international corporate real estate practice
-
how corporate America is getting overseas deals done
-
how corporation are tracking and benchmarking real estate costs
-
how office and industrial space needs are changing in the global
economy
-
how Counselors can better serve corporations
There are no Corporate Real Estate Business Issues Forums scheduled
at this time.
